Sponsored by the Guitar Foundation of America:
The Guitar Foundation of America’s International Convention & Competitions is an annual event that brings together guitar enthusiasts, professionals, educators, luthiers, vendors, and composers. This convention features performances, workshops, masterclasses, lectures, competitions, vendor exhibition, and more! Whether you’re a professional player or a casual listener, the Guitar Foundation of America Convention offers a comprehensive and engaging experience centered around our beloved instrument. Hosted by Dr. Stephen Mattingly, the 2025 Convention will take place on June 16-21, 2025, at the University of Louisville, and features an exceptional artist lineup including: Leonela Alejandro, ChromaDuo, Cochran & McAllister Duo, Rene Izquierdo, Xavier Jara, JIJI, Alan Mearns, Judicaël Perroy, Alvaro Pierri, and Berta Rojas.
The GFA offers two additional programs within the convention, specifically designed for young musicians, and another for adult guitar enthusiasts! The Bridge is an immersive camp experience for guitarists ages 11–18 that takes place during the annual GFA convention, where young musicians can perform, learn, and socialize with their peers and with world-famous GFA artists. Participants’ daily schedule will include studio class performances where participating students play, discuss, learn, grow, and network with other young guitarists. Students will also participate in technique workshops, exclusive sessions designed for The Bridge students, afternoon and evening concerts by world-class artists, and special excursions within the convention environment.
GFA’s Coffee and Chords Club is an immersive experience for adult guitar enthusiasts taking place within the annual GFA convention. Participants have the opportunity to join a cohort to share unique educational and artistic experiences, including personal connections with some of our world-famous guest artists. The Club kicks off Monday evening with an opening reception to welcome all members. Tuesday through Friday, the group will meet daily to reflect on the week’s events and enjoy visits from special guests for more intimate conversations, and conclude with a special performance opportunity on Friday. Club members will also have private lessons throughout the week with convention artists, and receive support for preparing their parts for the Community Guitar Orchestra.
